Here's information on the inventor of the original internal combustion engine, Philippe Lebon
Philippe Lebon

Philippe Lebon was born in Brachay, France, on May 29, 1767 and was assassinated in 1804. He was an engineer who studied the properties of gas and Lebon is mentioned amongst the pioneers of gas lighting.

Philippe Lebon was living in an age when engines were being advanced from the steam engine. He his given credit for inventing what is perhaps the first internal combustion engine. This engine used coal gas which was ignited by an electrical spark. The Lebon engine was not a great engine however it was innovated upon and the internal combustion engine powered many pieces of machinery since.
