 Inventions and Innovations

Why do people invent ?
What is an invention ?
What is an innovation ?

The definition of invention...

Something completely new such as a novel idea, a new product, a new life form, etc. An addition to the already existing substance of life. The product of the creative process.Invention is innovation on what is already known but is innovation really invention ?

The definition of innovation...

Innovation is the advancement of a realized concept or product. The innovative stage can bring about new inventions but mostly they innovative process usually only brings awareness of sub categories of already existing concepts. Therefore innovation could be considered a re-inventing process.

Both require the creative process to be at work. For example gun powder was initially invented by a Chinese person several centuries before the Europeans innovated on the original concept. The Guttenberg printing press was an innovation of another Chinese printing concept know as block printing. The invention of paper is credited to another Asian but innovative methods of creating or re-inventing the paper making process is seen in many different places and time.
Inventions are best kept secret for many reasons. An inventors product has the potential to change the world. Languages were an invention that can totally explain how powerful a secret can be. Complex languages of the past were often used as weapons of war. Similarly today computer languages are becoming weapons of war. As long as they are kept secret they remain powerful. Most computer languages are not secretly guarded. They are public domain and they are thought in colleges and universities. Learning computer languages online can be done by anyone who wants to take the time.

But learning to code a language is not inventing a language. Innovating or inventing a new computer language is not inventing language. Innovating at best is re-inventing.

Inventing a better mouse trap might be a fallacy.  Innovating on an old invention known as the mouse trap might be the better way to term the new and innovative product.

Patent law decides what is a new invention or an original innovation. Patent law can be complex and is the domain of patent lawyers who know there way aroung the laws of invention and innovation.

This site looks into the ways invention-s-information has changed the world in the past and what new products and ideas, controversial or logical might change the world of tomorrow.
